Saint George Preca was born in Valletta, Malta on February 12, 1880. Ordained priest in 1906, he immediately began working with youth. In 1907 he founded the Society of Christian Doctrine, commonly known as M.U.S.E.U.M. (Magister Unitam Sequatur Evangelium Universus Mundus). He dedicated his life to preaching & teaching. His effective ministry was the fruit of a life of prayer & constant meditation on the Sacred Scriptures. 

On July 21, 1918, St. George enrolled in the Carmelite Third Order & one year later, on July 26, he made his profession. In 1952 he was affiliated to the Order as a recognition for his efforts to spread devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. 

St. George Preca died on July 2, 1962. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 9, 2001. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on June 3, 2007.
